No matter whether you are a wine expert or not, it seems any one has heard about Rueda wines. Rueda Denomination of Origin
is undergoing an economic growth in spite of the hard economic situation most activities and especially the wine growing activity are suffering.
Rueda character is defined mainly by three elements: the native Verdejo
grape, the continental climate and the rocky soils. Rueda Denomination of Origin has achieved international recognition and it seems to be living a great moment in our country.
Verdejo grape is fermented in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. After three months the wine takes a slightly yellow colour with greenish hints and a fresh and fruity palate and nose. This is the key moment for bottling a “Verdejo” type wine – a wine with complex fruit that has not undergone any ageing process -.
However, barrel fermentation is the lates trend. The result of this kind of fermentation is great quality wines with toasted and vanilla aromas in perfect harmony with fruity aromas of the Verdejo variety. After testing that the structure and personality is capable of bearing it stays in the barrel without losing its aromatic characteristics make us think that we will be seeing new proposals following this philosophy.
